Hello, my name is Marie Carr and I’m a master esthetician here at Sarah Hamilton Face. Today I’ll be talking about the diamond moxie, which is a treatment where we incorporate BBL our broadband light with our non-ablative fractionated laser treatment. Moxie. Our patients have been loving this treatment with minimal to no downtime, can even pop in for a lunchtime treatment and leave with sunscreen on protected and ready for your day. We usually like patients to do around three to four treatments depending on your end goals. It’s even a wonderful pre rejuvenation treatment for patients that just are on the younger side, have never done lasers and want to dip their toe in the water of lasers. How does MOXI™ laser work?

The controlled injuries will naturally start to heal and form MENDS on the skin, which will naturally slough off, revealing a more youthful and radiant complexion.

What are MENDS?

MENDS stands for Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris, a term used to describe the small, dark spots or scabs that can appear on the skin with a sandpaper-like feel following a MOXI™ laser treatment. MENDS are the result of the MOXI™ laser creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin, which leads to the exfoliation of damaged skin cells and debris. This is part of the natural healing process of skin renewal.

What conditions does it treat?

Can I combine MOXI™ with other treatments?

Yes, we always recommend adding a BBL HERO treatment to your MOXI™ for our Diamond MOXI laser treatment. Combining the BBL HERO + MOXI™ advanced modalities allows us to target various skin concerns in one treatment, elevating your results.

Is there any downtime with MOXI™?

There are about 5-7 days of downtime with MOXI™. However, most patients resume normal activities immediately after their treatment. You may experience slight swelling, redness, and the formation of MENDS, which will slough off on their own 3-7 days after your treatment.

Is MOXI™ safe for darker skin tones?

Yes, MOXI™ works beautifully on darker skin tones and is appropriate for all skin types. If you have specific questions or concerns based on your skin type and tone, your MOXI™ provider at Sarah Hamilton FACE will be able to assess and customize your treatment to give you the safest and most effective results.

What is the aftercare I will need after a MOXI™ laser treatment?

After your treatment, you can use BRIOTECH Topical Skin Spray on the treated area. It is important to avoid scratching/picking off MENDS, as doing so may cause scarring, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and infection. Avoid hot showers or exercise for 48 hours, use gentle products for two weeks and avoid using retinol, wear sunscreen and avoid direct sun exposure for four weeks post-treatment, and no makeup for 24 hours.

How many treatments of MOXI™ will I need?

The number of MOXI™ treatments can vary based on your individual custom treatment plan suggested by your laser provider at Sarah Hamilton FACE. However, patients see noticeable results after just one treatment. We recommend a series of 3-4 treatments for full correction. Maintenance treatments are recommended, usually 1-2 times a year.
